Vertical metasearch engine Costumzee relaunched late this summer to offer costume search with all the Web 2.0 trimmings. (You could say it came back from the dead, just in time for Halloween.) Costumzee got a write up over at Search Engine Watch this morning. Search by tag, see related costumes, review costumes, give costume ideas ratings by stars, build your profile - it’s a little hard to find the RSS URL for a search but other than that Costumzee is very 2.0 and the company knows it. You can also view other users’ lists of costume ideas .

The most important part of the site is that users can make their own costume suggestions , this is more than just a one way trip through affiliate links.

Yahoo opened its corporate headquarters to hordes of hackers, press and others on Friday and Saturday for its open Hack Day. After 24 hours of hacking (with a break for a private Beck concert in the Yahoo courtyard the first evening), 54 projects were demo’d to the crowd of about 400 people. Over 3,000 pictures from the event tagged (’HackDay06″) are on Flickr here.

Black Box Nation, a team of three fashion designers turned hardware hackers, unanimously swept our first open Hack Day event by mashing together a purse fitted with a Nokia camera phone, Bluetooth GPS, a pedometer and Flickr’s Zonetag API. Every few steps, the purse snaps a photo and moblogs it, creating a photo diary of the day. Creators Diana Eng, Emily Albinski and Audrey Roy all get to fight over the 32″ plasma TV they won. And if Diana looks familiar to you, she was the nerdy aspiring fashion designer on Project Runway.
